संयुक्त राष्ट्रसङ्घको आह्वानमा सन् २००९ देखि प्रत्येक वर्ष अप्रिल २२ मा विश्व मातृ पृथ्वी दिवस मनाउन थालिएको हो। आज विश्वका विभिन्न मुलुकमा विविध कार्यक्रमका साथ यो दिवस मनाइँदैछ, जसमा दिगो भविष्यका लागि सामूहिक प्रयासको आह्वान गरिएको छ। यो दिवसले पृथ्वीको संरक्षण र वातावरणीय सन्तुलन कायम राख्न सामूहिक प्रयास आवश्यक रहेको सन्देश दिन्छ।
