The government has made extensive changes in taxes.Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle announced a personal income tax exemption of up to Rs 1 million.Now, only one percent tax will be levied on personal income up to Rs 1 million rupees. Earlier, the limit was Rs 500, 000.
Announcing the government’s budget during a joint session of Parliament on Friday, De Wagle said that the tax exemption limit has been raised to Rs 1 million per annum. Likewise, income tax rate has been decreased by 10 percent, while customs rate on 273 types of raw materials import has been decreased.
Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle announced that the minimum taxable income has been increased from Rs 500,000 to Rs 1 million per year. Individuals earning up to Rs 1 million annually will now pay only 1 percent income tax under the revised system.
