विगतका वर्षहरूको तुलनामा यस वर्षायाममा चितवनका पर्यटकीय क्षेत्रहरूमा आन्तरिक तथा बाह्य पर्यटकको संख्यामा उल्लेख्य वृद्धि भएको छ। सरकारले लागू गरेको हप्ताको दुई दिने सार्वजनिक बिदाका कारण सौराहा, पटिहानी र मेघौली जस्ता क्षेत्रका होटलहरूको अकुपेन्सी ३० प्रतिशतबाट बढेर ५० प्रतिशत पुगेको छ। पर्यटन व्यवसायीहरूका अनुसार भारत र चीनबाट आउने पर्यटकसँगै आन्तरिक पर्यटकको संख्यामा २५ प्रतिशतले वृद्धि भएको छ। मनसुनको चुनौतीका बाबजुद पर्यटकको यो आगमनले स्थानीय अर्थतन्त्रमा सकारात्मक प्रभाव पारेको छ।
