संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघीय विश्व मौसम विज्ञान संगठन (डब्लूएमओ) ले एल निनो अझै तीव्र बन्दै गएको र सन् २०२६ को डिसेम्बरतिर चरम बिन्दुमा पुग्ने चेतावनी दिएको छ। डब्लूएमओका अनुसार मध्य र पूर्वी उष्णकटिबन्धीय प्रशान्त महासागरको सतहको तापक्रम असामान्य रूपमा उच्च रहने सम्भावना छ। यसले विश्वका विभिन्न भागमा तापक्रम र वर्षाको ढाँचामा असर पार्न सक्ने तथा भारी वर्षा र खडेरीको जोखिम बढाउन सक्ने बताइएको छ।
