Nepal's Home Minister Sudan Gurung resigned on Wednesday after weeks of controversy over alleged business ties with businessman Deepak Bhatta and questions about his asset disclosures. Gurung submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Balendra Shah at Singha Durbar, following advice from both Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane to step down. Prime Minister Shah has temporarily assumed charge of the Home Ministry while the RSP has yet to name a replacement.
