स्वास्थ्य तथा खाद्य स्वच्छता मन्त्रालयले उच्च उचाइ तथा हिमाली क्षेत्रमा लेक लाग्ने समस्याको व्यवस्थापनसम्बन्धी नयाँ मापदण्ड स्वीकृत गरेको छ। 'उच्च उचाइ तथा हिमाली क्षेत्रमा लेक लाग्ने समस्याको व्यवस्थापन मापदण्ड, २०८३' ले लेक लाग्ने समस्यालाई व्यवस्थित रूपमा रोकथाम, पहिचान र उपचार गर्ने लक्ष्य राखेको छ। यी मापदण्डले हिमाली क्षेत्रमा समयमै पहिचान र उपचार सुनिश्चित गर्ने उद्देश्य राखेका छन्।
